Satan wants your family and will do anything to get them!
Ever since the COVID19 epidemic started, I have been developing a closer relationship with God. With these extra days off I have had time to study my Bible and to pray. I have been still enough to recognize God’s voice. I dug into the word of God and really applied what I had learned in those verses to my life. Satan didn’t like this and when the enemy wants your household he tries to change your course.
Satan has a short time left on this earth to steal and destroy everything on earth. When the enemy wants your household he will work over-time to rob you of your joy, relationship with God, your marriage, your kid’s faith, your health, your friendships, your eating habits, your wealth, etc…
John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
What happens when Satan arrives
Once I started digging into the Word, Satan arrived and tried to take over. See if any of this sounds familiar. I started off waking up early to have my devotion and prayer time. Working in the school system, has given me plenty of time to make time for God. Knowing that I had more time, made me become lazy so I started going to bed later and later.
Eventually, I was sleeping in, blogging and cleaning the house during the day, then my energy was gone by that evening or it was too chaotic because the kids were up with me. If I had only kept the schedule that I had before I would of had plenty of time and energy for devotions. I convinced myself that I needed to full-time blog during the summer because I would have to become part-time again once school started. Trying to squeeze a devotion in between blogging became harder and harder to do.
I was still reading the Bible but not as often as I was. You’ve got to realize that I love spending time with God and it is a priority for me. There is NOTHING like having a intimate relationship with him. Satan is real and told me lies like “I’m too tired tonight so I’ll get up early tomorrow to have my devotion.” When we listen to him, EVERYTHING falls apart!

This is where my downward spiral started. Satan started taking over my household. At first we were vigilant on watching our church online. Then our church opened back up so we started going again. Well, it closed again! We started to watch the service online less and less. Eventually, no body could find the time to sit down and watch it together (it was our fault for letting this happen). See how Satan works? URG!!!!!!!
My plan of action to challenge the enemy
Soon he started making my kids doubt their self worth. Well, I wasn’t going to let this happen without a fight! This is when I came up with a plan.
- Write prayers and memory verses on index cards
- Pray over the cards and place them throughout their rooms in secret places
- Jot down words of affirmation and Bible verses on more cards and place them throughout the house
- Take some verses and hide them in my oldest daughters car
- Place my hands on their bedroom doors and pray for them
- Make sure to spend time with my kids individually so they can each feel special
- At least twice a month schedule a date night with each child
- If you have a few kids and little time, take 2 kids at a time on a date. For a list of ideas for a kids date night click here.
- Plan a family fun night every Sunday night to get connected
- Have a short devotion with them once a week
We started intentionally watching our church service online every week again until church opened up. Now that church has opened up I make sure that my kids are home every Sunday morning so we can go to church together. My kids need to see the importance of having time for God again. When you have time for God and develop an intimate relationship with God, then everything else falls into place.

Galatians 4:6
Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”
When the enemy wants your household make sure to put plans into place before he can strike. He wants to wear you out so you can’t fight him. There are so many different circumstances that you and your family could be going through to make life difficult. If your child has lost their way or has become defiant, pray for them and dig into God’s word.
Ask others to join you through a prayer circle. Have them take turns praying for your child and your family while ya’ll are holding hands. Cry out to God and call on the Holy Spirit to join you. When the Holy Spirit calls for Abba, Father it’s like a child calling out to his dad in need for help. The Holy Spirit intercedes through wordless groans and is an advocate for you in times of need. He calls out to God for us when we have nothing left in us.
Also, try these steps listed above and hand them over to God. The hardest thing is to not take your problems back from God. Become intentional and fight for your family. Satan wants to sidetrack you so don’t let him. He will try to derail you with everything he has so stay grounded in the word. Ask God to fight your fight for you because only God can win over Satan. Only ask people for help who will give godly advice as you go through this journey.
